The Charitable Actions of Lambropoulos Brothers

Notable examples of these charitable efforts include donations of €293,470.29 (100,000,000 drachmas) at the end of 1952, €220,102.71 (75,000,000 drachmas) in early 1953, and €1,100,513.57 (375,000,000 drachmas) in April 1954. In November 1961, it was decided to support the flood victims of Athens and Piraeus with clothing valued at €586.94 (200,000 drachmas), amounts that were considered highly significant at the time and represented a generous contribution to the local community.

Continuing the philanthropic tradition, Takis X. Lambropoulos made smaller-scale donations in Kontovazaina, Ilia, the hometown of the Lambropoulos family. The family sought to extend and strengthen its social contributions by founding two charitable foundations, each with a distinct purpose and path.

Dimitrios and Blanche Lambropoulos Foundation

The establishment of the Foundation was approved by Presidential Decree 426/1977, published in the Government Gazette 130A/14.05.1977, and its operations began in February 1978, with its headquarters in Athens. 95% of its revenue is allocated to charitable work and supporting individuals in need, while the remaining funds are kept as reserves with full transparency. The revenue comes from interest on invested capital, and its management is overseen by a four-member Board of Directors, currently consisting of:

  • Xeni Pan. X. Lambropoulos (President)
  • Vasileios Avarkiotis (Vice President)
  • Elena Pan. K. Lambropoulos (Treasurer)
  • Thomas Io. Varvitsiotis (Member)

The Foundation’s Director of Social Work is Athanasia Papa.

The Foundation was established in accordance with the wishes of Dimitrios Lambropoulos, the fifth brother of Xenophon Lambropoulos, and his wife, Lefkothea (Blanche). After the death of her husband, Blanche bequeathed all of his estate through a handwritten will (1202/1975 protocol of the Athens Court of First Instance) for the creation of this charitable Foundation, appointing Takis X. Lambropoulos as lifetime president.
